Company History
LOOMIS PRODUCTS was founded by David Loomis in 1917, in Caldwell, New
Jersey USA. He started out with laboratory test presses, such as the
hand wheel operated press shown right.
By the early fifties, the company had graduated to the design and
patenting of piston extrusion presses with enough power and capacity to
be used as factory production machines for the forming of clays,
ceramics a nd metal powders.
In the 1960 s the era of the large isostatic wet bag press and the
automatic dry bag isostatic press began. In this time, Loomis patented
the master bag seal for the dry bag isostaic press, which is used in
all dry bag isostatic pressing systems today.
In 1965, Karl W. Kahlefeld who attained his engineering degree in
Kaiserslautern Germany, joined LOOMIS engineering via the purchase of
Loomis Engineering Co. by Midvale Heppenstall, a steel company located
in Philadelphia Pennsylvania USA.
In 1970 as chief design engineer, Mr. Kahlefeld acquired LOOMIS
PRODUCTS COMPANY and relocated operations to the present location in
Levittown, Penns ylvania USA.
LOOMIS PRODUCTS Kahlefeld GmbH was launched in 1990 to accommodate the
European, Middle East and African market and is now owned and operated
by Pia Kahlefeld.
Over the past decade, LOOMIS has attained many first's in the field of
machine equipment used for forming in the powdered ceramics, metals,
refractory and plastic industry and continues to revolutionize the
industry with innova tive, state of the art, economic and practical
standard and custom equipment.
